ETF Assets Tracking MSCI Equity Indexes Exceed $2 Trillion
Assets in indexed equity exchange-traded funds linked to MSCI’s global equity indexes have surged past $2 trillion, marking a 17% growth since the start of 2025. The milestone underscores MSCI’s dominance as a benchmark provider for investors seeking global exposure.
Developed markets outside the U.S. and emerging markets drove the expansion, reflecting broader trends in institutional portfolio diversification. More than $17 trillion in assets—spanning ETFs, fixed income, and active funds—now track MSCI’s indexes.
"Our research-driven approach ensures clients can navigate evolving opportunities across regions and sectors," said Henry Fernandez, MSCI’s Chairman and CEO. The firm maintains over 246,000 equity indexes, with 1,400 ETFs tied to its benchmarks.
